Tragedy Strikes as Helicopter Crashes into Irish Building
Several Casualties Reported in Co Westmeath Incident
A tragic helicopter crash has left several casualties after the aircraft collided with a building in Ireland. The incident occurred at 3:30 PM on Tuesday in the Joristown Upper townland of Killucan, Co Westmeath.
Emergency services quickly responded to the scene. Pat Hunt, the acting chief fire officer of Westmeath Fire and Rescue Service, shared the grim news with a local radio station: “We understand that it’s an incident involving a helicopter crashing into a building. All principal response agencies are mobilising to the scene: An Garda Síochána, the ambulance service, and ourselves.”
While the exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed, the Irish Air Accident Investigation Unit has already deployed a team of inspectors to the crash site to begin their investigation into the single-engine helicopter’s tragic fate.
Ken Glynn, the mayor of Mullingar-Kinnegad Municipal District, described the event as “shocking and tragic” during an interview with Irish broadcaster RTE. He expressed his heartfelt sympathies, stating, “My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those involved in the incident.”
