2024 TikTok Book Awards UK and Ireland – Voting Is Open

In a delightful announcement, TikTok has unveiled the shortlist for the 2024 TikTok Book Awards UK and Ireland, stirring excitement among the vibrant #BookTok community.

The spotlight shines brightly on two Irish female authors who have secured their spots on the coveted shortlist.

Claire Wright, known on TikTok as @clairewright.author, has been nominated for the BookTok Breakthrough Author award.

Caroline O’Donoghue’s novel “The Rachel Incident” has earned a nomination for the prestigious Book of the Year award.

The #BookTok community, with over 34 million posts and counting, is a bustling hub of bookworms and literary enthusiasts. This platform has become a powerful force in promoting book sales, championing independent bookshops, and propelling the careers of emerging authors and previously underrepresented genres. The awards were first introduced last year, with notable winners like Holly Jackson, Bolu Babalola’s “Honey & Spice,” and TikTok creator Eden Victoria.

This year’s shortlist was meticulously curated by a panel of industry experts, including TikTok creators Jack Edwards and previous winner Eden Victoria, CEO of the Publishers Association Dan Conway, Editor of The Bookseller Philip Jones, Black British Book Festival CEO & Founder Selina Brown, and acclaimed authors Samantha Shannon and Sara Cox.

The final decision now rests in the hands of the TikTok community. Last year, over 160,000 votes were cast, showcasing the community’s enthusiasm and engagement.
