This platform has become a powerful force in promoting book sales, championing independent bookshops, and propelling the careers of emerging authors and previously underrepresented genres. From #BookRecommendations to #Romantasy, the community’s influence is undeniable.
The TikTok Community
The TikTok Book Awards offer this passionate community the opportunity to vote for the books, indie bookshops, authors, and creators that have made the #BookTok landscape in Ireland truly special. The awards were first introduced last year, with notable winners like Holly Jackson, Bolu Babalola’s “Honey & Spice,” and TikTok creator Eden Victoria.
This year’s shortlist was meticulously curated by a panel of industry experts, including TikTok creators Jack Edwards and previous winner Eden Victoria, CEO of the Publishers Association Dan Conway, Editor of The Bookseller Philip Jones, Black British Book Festival CEO & Founder Selina Brown, and acclaimed authors Samantha Shannon and Sara Cox.
The final decision now rests in the hands of the TikTok community. Last year, over 160,000 votes were cast, showcasing the community’s enthusiasm and engagement. With the 2024 voting hub officially open, readers across the UK and Ireland have the chance to support their favourite nominees and celebrate the literary talents that have captivated their hearts.
