A Promising Career Cut Short

Born in Durham, England, on February 18, 2000, Georgia O’Connor quickly rose through the ranks of amateur boxing. She secured a gold medal at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games, a silver at the 2017 Youth World Championships, and a bronze at the 2018 Youth World Championships. Transitioning to professional boxing in 2021, she maintained an undefeated record of 3-0.

Beyond boxing, O’Connor was a three-time national taekwondo champion and an undefeated kickboxer. She also pursued a degree in civil engineering and had a passion for music, often sharing her guitar performances on social media.

Health Struggles and Advocacy

O’Connor had long battled ulcerative colitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis, both chronic conditions that increased her risk for cancer. In October 2024, she began experiencing severe pain and sought medical attention repeatedly. Despite her persistent efforts, she felt her concerns were dismissed by healthcare professionals. In a candid social media post, she expressed her frustration:

“For 17 weeks since the start of October, I’ve been in constant pain… I said from the start I felt it was cancer. I KNEW the risks… But not one doctor f—— listened to me.”

Her diagnosis came only after the cancer had progressed significantly. In February 2025, she also shared the heartbreak of experiencing a miscarriage, further compounding her health challenges.
