Tragedy on Monte Faito: Cable Car Crash Claims Four Lives

The victims included two British tourists, an Israeli woman, and the cable car operator. Another Israeli tourist sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital in Naples. ​

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who was on a trip to Washington at the time, expressed sincere condolences through her office. ​

This incident is reminiscent of previous cable car accidents in Italy. In 1960, a similar accident on the same cable car line resulted in four deaths. More recently, in 2021, a cable car crash on the Stresa-Mottarone line in northern Italy claimed 14 lives. ​
