On the night of Sunday, December 1, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in New Ross, County Wexford, resulting in the death of an eight-year-old girl following a fatal assault at a domestic residence. Gardaí and emergency services were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:45 p.m. The young girl was transported to University Hospital Waterford for treatment but, tragically, succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Monday morning.

In addition to the young victim, a man and a woman, both in their 30s, sustained injuries during the incident. They are currently receiving treatment at University Hospital Wexford, and their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
