Ireland Weather Report – Saturday, 26 April 2025
The weather across Ireland this Saturday promises a much-needed break after recent rain and storms. However, patience will be tested early on as lingering rain and stubborn fog slowly clear, particularly across the northeast, south, and east. While the day looks considerably brighter than previous ones, western areas need to stay alert for more cloud cover and light rain creeping in by evening. Here’s today’s no-nonsense breakdown.

Today’s Forecast Overview
| Region | Morning Conditions | Afternoon Outlook | High Temp (°C) | Wind |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Northeast | Mist, fog, light rain lingering | Clearing to sunshine | 13 – 15 | Light to moderate SW |
| South | Mist and coastal fog slow to clear | Spells of sunshine, isolated showers | 15 – 17 | Light to moderate SW |
| West | Mostly dry, brighter spells | Turning cloudier, patchy rain by evening | 14 – 16 | Light to moderate SW |
| East | Mist and fog early, dry later | Dry with sunny spells | 13 – 15 | Light to moderate SW |
Morning: A Sluggish Start for the East and South
Expect the morning to drag its feet. Light rain will continue to clear from the northeast, but coastal mist and fog, especially along southern and eastern counties, will stubbornly hang on. Visibility could remain poor well into late morning for some areas. Drivers and early risers need to stay cautious.
Afternoon: A Much Brighter Picture
For most parts of Ireland, spells of sunshine will break through. Only the odd light shower is expected, and it should feel pleasantly mild compared to recent days. Temperatures will climb nicely, ranging from 13 to 17 degrees, with the best of the warmth likely felt inland. Southwesterly breezes will stay light to moderate, offering a decent Saturday for outdoor plans.
Evening: West Faces Another Damp Threat
Later in the day, the west will turn increasingly cloudy. Patchy rain will start pushing in from the Atlantic during the early evening, possibly dampening outdoor activities along coastal Connacht and Munster. Further east, conditions will stay mostly dry but cloudier as the evening progresses.
Tonight: Cloudy but Calm
By tonight, patchy rain will continue in the west and northwest while the rest of the country remains largely dry under increasing cloud. Overnight temperatures will fall to between 6 and 9 degrees with light to moderate southwesterly winds.
Quick Stats for Today
- UV Index: Low to Moderate
- Pollen Count: Low
- Sea Conditions: Slight, moderate off western coasts
Warning Snapshot
There are currently no active weather warnings from Met Éireann. However, spot showers combined with lingering coastal fog this morning could impact visibility on minor roads and country lanes, especially in rural areas.
Outlook for Sunday
Sunday looks increasingly unsettled again. Rain is expected to spread across the country later in the day, especially for the west and north, so make the most of Saturday’s relatively dry weather while you can.
Today is one of the better days we’ve seen this week, even if it comes with a stubborn start. Mist, fog, and the last drizzles of misery will shift, leaving decent spells of sunshine for most. Just don’t be fooled if you’re out west – that cloud building late in the day isn’t just for show. Enjoy the mild temperatures while they last because Irish spring is about to remind us that it’s still a little temperamental.
