Ireland’s Weekend Weather Forecast
Kicking Off the Weekend: A Mixed Bag for Friday
It's Friday, October 30th, and if you're looking out the window this morning, you might be seeing two very different pictures depending on where you are in Ireland. Met Éireann's latest forecast tells us we're in for a bit of a divide today.

The eastern half of the country, lucky you, is set to enjoy a largely dry day with some decent sunny spells. It sounds like a perfect autumn day if you ask me. You might even manage to get out for a walk without needing a full rain ensemble. Temperatures here are looking relatively mild, climbing to between 13 and 16 degrees.
However, if you're on the Atlantic coast, particularly in the west, things are looking a bit cloudier. We're expecting scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle to gradually move in. It won't be a washout, but it's definitely a day for keeping the umbrella close by. Winds will be moderate to fresh from the southeast, possibly strong and gusty along northern coasts for a spell. So, if you're planning any outdoor activities there, maybe opt for something a bit more sheltered.
Tonight's Picture: Clear Spells and Developing Mist
As we head into Friday night, that pattern of Atlantic rain and drizzle will continue for western counties. The rest of the country, though, should remain dry with some clear spells breaking through. It sounds like a good evening for stargazing if you're in the east or south, assuming the clouds play along.
One thing to watch out for tonight is the development of mist and fog patches. If you're driving late, take extra care. Temperatures will dip, but not drastically, ranging from 6 to 12 degrees. It will be coolest across the south and east, with just light southerly or variable breezes. A fairly calm night overall, which is always welcome.
Saturday's Outlook: Lingering Drizzle and Emerging Sunshine
Tomorrow, Saturday, October 31st, brings a continuation of that scattered rain and drizzle across Atlantic counties. However, it looks like it will become patchier as the day goes on, with some late sunny spells even developing across the northwest. So, don't write off your Saturday plans if you're out west, there might be a window of sunshine later.
For much of the midlands, south, and east, Saturday is shaping up to be another dry day with sunny spells. This is great news for anyone planning to get out and about. However, Met Éireann warns that damp and misty conditions might develop in the evening hours, so be prepared for a bit of atmospheric change as the day ends. Highest temperatures will be between 12 and 15 degrees, with light southeast or variable winds. All in all, a fairly pleasant autumn day for many.
The Week Ahead: High Pressure Dominates for a Settled Spell
Now, for the big picture. The national outlook from Met Éireann is giving us some genuinely good news for the coming week. A slow-moving area of high pressure, positioned to the north of Ireland, is set to bring a mostly dry, calm, and settled spell of weather that should last well into next week. This is exactly what we want to hear as we head into November.
Saturday night will see patchy drizzle affecting parts of the midlands, south, and east. But, the amounts will be minimal, meaning most of the country should stay largely dry. Temperatures will drop further, ranging from 2 to 9 degrees, with the coolest conditions expected across the north and west under clearing skies. Watch out for mist and fog developing in places, again, with just light variable breezes.
Sunday is looking like another good day. We might see some patchy drizzle, mist, and fog early on in parts of the midlands, south, and east, but overall, it will be dry with sunny spells. It will feel a bit cooler than the start of the weekend, with afternoon highs of 10 to 13 degrees in a light northerly breeze. Perfect weather for a leisurely Sunday stroll or getting some jobs done around the house.
Looking further into next week, Monday and Tuesday are expected to be quite similar. We're talking sunny spells and just light easterly breezes. The odd spot of drizzle might show up across southern and eastern counties, but it won't amount to much. Highest temperatures will remain consistent, between 10 and 13 degrees.
The further outlook suggests little change. Expect cool days and rather cold nights. The dry weather will largely persist, outside of that patchy drizzle across eastern counties. Some mist and fog may linger into the easterly mornings, so keep that in mind for your commutes.
This settled period, brought to us by that high pressure system, is a welcome change. It means we can look forward to some stable, if slightly cool, autumn weather. It's a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, perhaps take in some of Ireland's beautiful scenery, or simply make the most of the dry conditions.
For the most up-to-date information, it's always a good idea to check the official Met Éireann website (https://www.met.ie). They provide detailed forecasts and warnings that can be incredibly helpful for planning your days. Enjoy the weekend, and let's hope that high pressure holds firm!
