Sunny skies over a green Irish landscape, perfect for Ireland weekend weather

Ireland’s Weekend Weather: Warm, Dry, and Sunny

It's Saturday, July 18th, 2026, and if you're waking up in Ireland today, you're likely in for a real treat. We've been watching the forecasts, and it seems this weekend is shaping up to be quite lovely for many across the country. Met Éireann, our national meteorological service, has given us a pretty clear picture of what to expect.

Sunny skies over a green Irish landscape, perfect for Ireland weekend weather

From what we're seeing, today is all about sunshine and warmth. If you're in the midlands, the south, or the east, you really hit the jackpot. These areas are expected to be the sunniest, with temperatures hitting a glorious 23 to 26 degrees. That's what I call summer weather! It's the kind of day that practically begs you to get outside, whether it's for a walk in the park, a picnic, or maybe even a dip in the sea if you're lucky enough to be near the coast.

However, it's not quite the same story everywhere. If you're up in the north or northwest, it's going to be a bit cloudier. Temperatures there will be a little cooler, ranging from 17 to 22 degrees, with a light to moderate northerly breeze. Still pleasant, mind you, but perhaps not quite the scorching summer day the rest of us are anticipating. It just goes to show you how varied our weather can be, even on the same day.

Tonight's Forecast: A Clear and Cooler Evening

As the sun sets on this beautiful Saturday, most of Ireland can look forward to a dry and largely clear night. This is good news for anyone planning an evening out or just hoping for a peaceful night's sleep. One thing to note is that it's going to be fresher than the nights we've had recently, which is a welcome change for many. Lowest temperatures are expected to drop to between 9 and 13 degrees, with a light northerly or variable breeze. You might even spot a few isolated mist patches developing, especially in rural areas, adding a touch of atmospheric charm to the early morning hours.

Looking Ahead to Sunday: More of the Same Goodness

The good news doesn't stop at Saturday. Sunday, July 19th, is set to continue much in the same vein. We're looking at another dry day with hazy sunshine across most of the country, accompanied by a light northerly breeze. Temperatures on Sunday will generally range from 20 to 26 degrees. Again, the north and northwest coasts will be a bit cooler, with temperatures between 17 and 20 degrees. So, if you missed out on the best of Saturday's sunshine, you've got another chance to enjoy some lovely weather.

The Week Ahead: High Pressure Dominance and Gradual Cooling

Now, for those of us who like to plan a little further ahead, the national outlook from Met Éireann suggests that high pressure is going to remain dominant for a while. This is generally good news, meaning stable, dry conditions for many.

While temperatures won't be quite as high as this weekend's peak, it's still going to be warm and dry with plenty of sunny spells for most of us. The north and northwest, however, will continue to see slightly cooler and cloudier conditions, with a few patches of drizzle making an appearance here and there.

Sunday Night: Most places will stay dry and clear. Ulster and north Connacht will be cloudier, with a few patches of drizzle possible. Temperatures will be mild, between 10 and 14 degrees, with a light northerly breeze.

Monday: We're expecting things to become a bit cloudier overall on Monday morning. The southern half of the country should still see some sunny spells. While most areas will stay dry, parts of Connacht, Ulster, and north Leinster might experience some patches of drizzle. It will remain warm in Leinster and Munster, with temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees. Connacht and Ulster will be cooler, with highs of 17 to 20 degrees and moderate northerly winds.

Monday Night: Mostly dry with clear spells for many. Ulster and Connacht might still see some lingering drizzle and more cloud. It looks like a mild night, with lowest temperatures between 12 and 15 degrees and a light to moderate northerly breeze.

Tuesday: Cloudier than we've been used to recently, but sunny spells are expected to develop, particularly away from the north and northwest. It should stay dry, apart from isolated drizzle patches in the north and west. Leinster and Munster will again be the warmest, with temperatures from 20 to 24 degrees. Connacht and Ulster will be cooler, ranging from 16 to 20 degrees, with moderate northerly winds.

Wednesday: This day looks similar to Tuesday, with a good deal of cloud. The best of any sunny spells will be in the southern counties. Highest temperatures will range from 17 degrees in the north to 24 degrees in the south, under moderate northerly winds.

Further Outlook: As we head towards Thursday and Friday, conditions aren't expected to change much. Cloud and drizzle will persist in the north and west, while the rest of the country enjoys drier conditions and sunny spells. There's a hint from Met Éireann that next weekend could bring more changeable conditions. So, it's a good idea to keep an eye on those updated forecasts as we get closer.
