Irish Family Caught in Chaotic Bombings in Lebanon
An Irish family, attending a funeral and an engagement celebration in Lebanon, found themselves in a life-threatening situation as Israeli bombing ravaged southern Lebanon. Munier Zabad, who fled Lebanon for Kilkenny during the 2006 war, had returned to his home country with his family when tragedy struck.
After surviving a harrowing experience, Munier described seeing seven to eight bombs fall in the early hours of the morning. His daughter, Gadir, recounted the terror of witnessing the chaos and destruction, with cars crashing and buildings collapsing. The family now remains “relatively” safe in Beirut, though concerns loom about the violence spreading.
Gadir is now urgently calling on the Irish Government to help evacuate her family and fiancé, a non-Irish citizen, fearing for their lives if they remain in Lebanon.
Key Details:
- Munier Zabad, his wife, and two children fled southern Lebanon to Beirut as the bombings worsened.
- The family witnessed intense destruction, with buildings falling and chaos spreading throughout the streets.
- Gadir, their daughter, voiced concern over the bombing, fearing civilians were being targeted rather than Hezbollah militants.
- The family is appealing to the Irish Government for assistance in returning to Ireland, but uncertainties remain regarding whether Gadir’s fiancé, who is not an Irish citizen, can join them.
As the violence intensifies, Munier and his family are desperate for government intervention to ensure their safety and reunite them with loved ones back in Ireland. Their plea highlights the devastating impact of the conflict on innocent civilians.
