Kerry Farmer Michael Gaine Vanishes Without a Trace
The community of Kenmare, County Kerry, is deeply concerned over the disappearance of 56-year-old farmer Michael Gaine. Michael was last seen on Thursday, March 20, 2025, around 10 a.m., purchasing phone credit at a local Centra store in Kenmare. His absence was reported the following day when he failed to attend to his daily farming duties, an unusual behavior for the dedicated farmer. His bronze-colored Toyota RAV4 was later found parked at his farm near Moll’s Gap, intensifying worries about his whereabouts.

Extensive Search Efforts
In response to Michael’s disappearance, an extensive search operation was launched, involving over 200 volunteers, including members of the Gardaí, the Coast Guard, and the Civil Defence. The search has encompassed his 1,000-acre mountainous farmland, nearby water bodies such as lakes near Moll’s Gap and the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, and surrounding areas. Specialized units have employed aerial support, sniffer dogs, and divers to aid in the search. Despite these comprehensive efforts, no significant leads have emerged.

Superintendent David O’Callaghan of Tralee Garda Station is leading the investigation, emphasizing the importance of public assistance in tracing Michael’s movements. Authorities have also conducted thorough searches of Michael’s farm, including draining a slurry pit, but have yet to find any clues.
