Met Éireann Irish Weather Report – Monday, 12 May 2025
The country splits in half today—literally and atmospherically. While western counties stretch in sunshine, the east gets blanketed in cloud, drizzle, and that trademark Irish unpredictability. What feels like spring is once again playing favourites. Met Éireann has forecasted a mixed bag of mellow sunshine, sporadic rain, and a sly easterly breeze creeping in by night.

What to Expect This Afternoon
As the Monday workday grinds on, western and midland counties will bask in those spring rays, turning lunch breaks into mini staycations. But don’t let the brightness fool you—eastern and northern counties remain cloud-covered, with intermittent drizzles that can’t seem to make up their mind. Dublin and parts of Meath saw early grey layers refuse to break. That pattern isn’t shifting quickly. It’s a day of two Irelands: one soaking it in, the other soaked.
Evening Outlook – From Cloud to Calm?
By evening, expect a calm hush to take over much of the country. Winds will shift from northerly to easterly, and scattered showers will begin to dissipate. Still, heavier pockets may linger in parts of the Midlands and East until nightfall. Patchy rain risks remain isolated but sudden. Temperatures drop but stay mild—an uneventful night unless you’re in the west, where a slight coastal chill may creep back in.
Met Éireann Forecast For Tonight
As darkness falls, the country cools with minimum temperatures settling between 8 and 11 degrees. Some of those pesky showers from earlier might still pop up across the Midlands and border counties. Eastern fog banks could creep back under clearer skies later in the night. Northerly winds turn easterly by midnight, remaining light in most parts. For more, check out Met Éireann.
