Mr Flashy Goes Down: Glen Ward Jailed for Finglas House Party Gun Attack
Glen Ward, known by the nickname “Mr Flashy,” was today sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison for discharging a semi-automatic rifle during a house party in Finglas in 2019. The once-notorious gang figure, long associated with Dublin’s so-called ‘Gucci Gang,’ has finally been brought to justice in a case that prosecutors described as “one of reckless and calculated violence.”
Ward pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition in connection with the May 2019 incident in which a house in the Berryfield area of Finglas was sprayed with bullets in the early hours of the morning. No one was injured, but the shooting left local residents terrified and sparked renewed concerns about gang violence in the area.

Gunfire at a Birthday Party
According to court testimony, the shooting occurred following a birthday party. A disagreement broke out, which led Ward to retrieve a semi-automatic rifle from a nearby vehicle. He returned shortly after and opened fire at the house, emptying the magazine into the property. At least 11 bullet holes were later found in the front door and walls.
One witness described the aftermath: “It was like a warzone. We were terrified to even open our doors the next morning.”
The court heard that Ward’s actions were deliberate and premeditated. Gardaí recovered shell casings and surveillance footage placing Ward at the scene. Ballistic evidence linked the rifle to previous criminal activity in Dublin, further solidifying his role in the attack.
The Rise of Mr Flashy
Ward rose to prominence around 2016 as the reported head of a gang operating out of the Finglas area. Often dubbed the “Gucci Gang” due to its flashy lifestyle, designer clothing, and social media presence, the group gained infamy for its brash defiance of rivals and authorities alike.
Ward was known for flaunting his wealth, travelling in high-end vehicles and dressing in luxury brands while maintaining a tight grip on street-level drug distribution and violent enforcement tactics.
However, as rival gangs moved into his territory and law enforcement pressure increased, cracks began to appear. A number of violent incidents — including arson attacks, beatings, and attempted assassinations — were tied to escalating tensions among criminal factions in the city’s northside.
Courtroom Reality
During sentencing, the judge described Ward’s actions as “utterly reckless,” adding that discharging a high-powered weapon in a residential area displayed a “callous disregard for life.”
Ward’s defence team argued he was intoxicated at the time and has since expressed remorse. They pointed out that he had pleaded guilty and had not resisted arrest when confronted by gardaí in 2023. However, the judge concluded that his actions were too dangerous to merit a suspended sentence.
The prosecution also revealed that Ward had been under surveillance for years as part of an ongoing operation targeting organised crime in the Finglas and Ballymun areas. The Finglas feud, as it’s become known, has claimed multiple lives and shows no signs of fully subsiding, despite several high-profile arrests.
Community Fallout
Locals in Finglas say the case brings a small measure of relief but little comfort. One resident commented, “People are still scared. One sentence doesn’t end years of fear.” Community groups continue to call for increased garda visibility and social investment in the area to prevent further youth recruitment into gangs.
Meanwhile, Ward’s incarceration may signal the weakening grip of his once-powerful crew. But experts caution that in Dublin’s volatile criminal underworld, a vacuum rarely stays empty for long.
As one analyst put it, “The sentencing of Glen Ward is significant, but this isn’t the end of the Gucci Gang legacy — not yet.”
