Shannon Airport Launches New Routes and Expanded Summer Schedule for 2025
Shannon Airport has announced a significant expansion of its Summer 2025 schedule, unveiling two new sun routes and a major boost in capacity across several popular destinations. The move comes in response to strong passenger demand and is expected to support both tourism and business connectivity in the west of Ireland.

Two New Routes for Summer Getaways
Passengers can now look forward to direct flights from Shannon to Madeira and Palma de Mallorca:
- Madeira, Portugal:
This brand-new twice-weekly service to the picturesque Portuguese island began on 30 March 2025 and will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays. - Palma de Mallorca, Spain:
In partnership with TUI, Shannon is also offering a charter service to the Balearic island, giving holidaymakers even more sunny options this summer.
These additions mark Shannon’s continued focus on connecting Irish travellers with key leisure destinations across Europe.
11% Increase in Capacity
As part of the new summer schedule, Shannon Airport has added over 190,000 seats, representing an 11% increase in capacity compared to Summer 2024. This boost includes:
- 36 total services to 11 countries
- Expanded routes with Ryanair, including 16 additional weekly departures
Popular destinations such as Faro, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Edinburgh, and Porto will benefit from increased frequency, giving passengers greater flexibility in their travel plans.
More Convenience for Travellers
Alongside the expanded flight options, Shannon Airport has launched a series of digital upgrades to improve the passenger experience:
- A refreshed Shannon Airport mobile app
- Real-time flight updates and notifications
- AR baggage measurement tool to check cabin bag size
- A ‘Pin Your Car’ feature to locate vehicles on return
These tech-friendly features are aimed at streamlining the airport experience for Irish and international travellers alike.
Local and National Impact
The expanded schedule is being welcomed by both local tourism boards and international tour operators, as Shannon continues to rebuild its network post-pandemic.
CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, Mary Considine, said:
“We’re delighted to be growing our route network and increasing capacity for Summer 2025. These new services will provide even more choice for holidaymakers and business travellers, and help drive tourism and economic activity across the region.”
