TikTok Sensation Kayleigh Trappe Addresses Controversy – 2FM Drive
Renowned for her entertaining lip-syncing videos on TikTok, Kayleigh Trappe has stepped forward to address the swirling rumours suggesting she was about to slide into the coveted 2FM Drive hosting role. The online star was seemingly a strong contender to take over from Lottie Ryan who recently bid farewell to the show.
Since the unexpected departure of the 2 Johnnies in May, the hosting position has been up in the air. Yet, in a recent podcast chat with the former Drivetime hosts, the 28-year-old quashed the speculations, disclosing that she had not been contacted by the national broadcaster regarding the role.
The lighthearted banter in the podcast included jokes about her supposedly imminent start on 2FM Drive, to which Kayleigh slyly responded with a coy “no comment”. Amidst giggles, she shared the surprising moment when congratulations poured in from fellow media personalities, even receiving a heartfelt poem from Monaghan’s own Tommy Bowe. She expressed feeling a tinge of guilt for inadvertently leading everyone on.

Despite her interest in radio, Kayleigh confessed that her lip-syncing background might not align perfectly with the spoken word demands of a DJ. Meanwhile, Beta Da Silva from 2FM’s New Music Show is holding the fort as the temporary Drivetime host, bridging the gap until a permanent replacement is named.
The broadcasting station has witnessed a string of exits lately, with key figures such as Donncha O’Callaghan, The 2 Johnnies, Doireann Garrihy, and Jennifer Zamparelli bidding adieu. RTÉ has now opened up applications for potential presenters on 2FM, aiming to audition approximately 150 prospects for various hosting roles.
