Morning Overview
Monday morning kicks off with widespread mist and fog, some of which will cling stubbornly to coastal regions in the south and east. While visibility may be poor at first, especially for early commuters, conditions will gradually improve as sunshine breaks through by late morning and midday.
Afternoon Conditions
By midday and into the afternoon, most of the country will bask in hazy sunshine. It will remain largely dry throughout, though a rogue light shower cannot be ruled out, particularly across inland Munster or Ulster. Temperatures will rise steadily, reaching between 13 and 17 degrees Celsius, warmest in the midlands and south. Winds will remain light to moderate from the south, contributing to a calm and mild atmosphere.
Tonight’s Outlook
Tonight will be dry and tranquil with long clear spells expected. Overnight temperatures will fall to between 5 and 8 degrees Celsius. Winds will remain light to moderate from the south to southeast, and patchy fog may reform in some areas before dawn.
Looking Ahead
The early days of April are shaping up to be notably mild, with high pressure set to dominate. Temperatures could rise further, pushing close to 18 or 19 degrees midweek, particularly in western counties. While cloud and drizzle may edge into the northwest later in the week, most areas will enjoy extended dry spells with springlike warmth.
Impact and Advisory
While today’s conditions are generally favourable, the presence of morning fog warrants caution for road users, especially in eastern and southern coastal areas. Be mindful of reduced visibility before mid-morning.
