Buried Secrets: Hard Drive Suggests Madeleine McCann Is Dead

In May 2025, renewed attention has been drawn to the Madeleine McCann case following the emergence of disturbing evidence linked to Christian Brueckner, the prime suspect in her disappearance. This evidence, uncovered during a 2016 search of an abandoned property in Neuwegersleben, Germany, includes a hard drive containing child abuse images, writings detailing fantasies of child abduction, and other incriminating materials.

The hard drive, reportedly buried beneath the remains of Brueckner’s deceased dog, contained photographs taken in Portugal that led investigators to conclude that Madeleine is deceased. Additional items found at the property included children’s clothing, toys, masks, chemicals, and firearms. Investigators also discovered Skype chats with other paedophiles, in which Brueckner allegedly expressed desires to “capture something small and use it for days.”

Despite being officially named a suspect in 2020 by German authorities and later by Portuguese prosecutors, Brueckner has yet to face formal charges related to Madeleine’s case. He is currently imprisoned for the 2005 rape of a 72-year-old woman in the same town where Madeleine vanished.

German investigators have urged the UK’s Metropolitan Police to intensify their involvement in the case ahead of Brueckner’s potential release in September 2025. They argue that British involvement could be crucial to securing prosecution and are prepared to share 20,000 pages of evidence.

The recent findings have been detailed in a Channel 4 documentary, “Maddie: The Unseen Evidence,” which presents these latest discoveries and the timeline of events since Madeleine’s 2007 disappearance.
