Dunleer Tragedy: Pensioner Struck by Bus

On Monday, May 26, a woman in her 80s was fatally struck by a bus on Lower Main Street in Dunleer, Co Louth, around 12:20 PM. She was transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where she was later pronounced dead. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses and any dash-cam footage from the area between 12:10 PM and 12:30 PM to assist in their investigation.

Five Fatalities Over the Weekend

The weekend preceding this incident saw four other women lose their lives in separate road accidents:

  • Co Tyrone: 82-year-old Bernadette Cranley from Lifford, Co Donegal, died in a two-car collision on Mellon Road near Omagh.
  • Co Clare: A woman in her 70s, reportedly a Canadian tourist, was killed when her bicycle was struck by a tractor on the L3180 at Toonagh, Tulla.
  • Co Wexford: A woman in her 20s died after being hit by a car on the R702 in Curraghgraigue, Enniscorthy.
  • Co Meath: 63-year-old Theresa Morgan was fatally struck by a car on the Dublin Road near Ashbourne.
