Teen’s Stabbing Spree at French School Leaves One Dead, Three Injured
On April 24, 2025, a tragic stabbing incident unfolded at the private Catholic high school Notre-Dame-de-Toutes-Aides in Nantes, western France. A 15-year-old student launched a knife attack during lunchtime, resulting in the death of a female classmate and injuries to three other students. The assailant was subdued by teachers before police arrived and took him into custody.

Details of the Incident
Eyewitnesses reported that the attacker was dressed in black, wearing a helmet and balaclava. He entered the school premises armed with at least one knife and proceeded to the second floor, where he fatally stabbed a teenage girl. He then moved to the first floor, attacking three other students before being overpowered by staff members.
Two of the injured students were reported to be in critical condition. The suspect had no prior police record, and authorities have stated there is no indication of a terrorist motive.
Possible Motive and Mental Health Concerns
Prior to the attack, the suspect reportedly sent an email to all students containing unspecified grievances. Education Minister Élisabeth Borne and Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau visited the school to express solidarity with the victims and the school community. The school was placed on lockdown during the incident, and police, along with armed military forces, secured the area.
